Pollock adds to MAN trucks and rigids to haulage fleet 20 January 2011

Scottish transport and warehousing firm Pollock (Scotrans) has added five MAN TGX tractor units with XXL cabs to its West Lothian operation for general haulage across the UK.

The Euro 5 26.440 6x2 tractors, acquired through MAN Financial Services, have also been joined by two TGM middleweight rigids for the firm's next day, local pallet distribution service – bringing the total number of MANs in the tartan trimmed fleet to over 30.

Joint managing director Scott Pollock says he selected MAN trucks because of the performance of the existing fleet.

"The MANs are substantially cheaper to run than the equivalent SCR [selective catalytic reduction] powered tractors, which use AdBlue," he comments, "often up to £2,500 per vehicle per year. The MAN's regularly return 8mpg, and for our type of operation, that's very, very good."

Pollock adds that the drivers like them. "We respect our drivers' opinions when it comes to truck hardware, and we know they are very happy behind the wheel of the TGX – the living space is voluminous, and comfort really is second-to-none."
