Positive performance leads to further Volvo truck order 16 May 2011

Two Volvo FH tractors that recently joined Peter Green Chilled have made a big impression, reports the Somerset-based operator.

Fuel returns have already proven so encouraging that the company has placed an order for three additional tractor units.

Supplied by the local Truck and Bus Wales & West dealer, the first vehicles were acquired as the result of "positive stories about fuel consumption" and a "particularly attractive offer" according to a spokesman for the company.

Specified with the 13-litre diesel engine, rated at 500bhp, matched to Volvo's two-pedal I-Shift automated gearbox, the three-axle tractors have been equipped with the Globetrotter cab and Volvo's Dynafleet telematics system.

Renault's Premium, which employs a Volvo-derived driveline, is among other tractors on the Peter Green Chilled fleet. According to driver trainer Derek Chant, the Premiums were generally well accepted and returned good fuel figures, and hence the decision to "go a step further and evaluate the Volvo".

"It's probably fair to say that the Volvo has established a great reputation for comfort and safety over the years so expectations were high," explains Chant. "The feedback from the drivers has been extremely positive so far."
