Prime minister stops off at Alexander Dennis29 August 2017

Bus and coach manufacturer Alexander Dennis (ADL) hosted a visit from Theresa May last week (23 August), during which she announced export finance support for British businesses and celebrated the bus maker’s order from Metrobús for 90 low-emission double-deck buses.

The order from Metrobús, first announced in October 2015, has been ADL’s biggest single deal from a customer in a new market. The high-capacity Enviro500 buses will ease road congestion and help to improve street level air quality in Mexico City.

This contract is supported by the Department for International Trade, whose UK Export Finance agency made a £44m finance deal available to ADL as part of a wider £1.7bn programme of support for UK companies in international markets.

Colin Robertson, ADL chief executive, said: “We are privileged to have the prime minister here to announce government support for exporting businesses like ADL.

“Our ability to offer finance from UK Export Finance in Mexican Pesos was a significant benefit to our buyer, helping us win this major contract.”
