RAF celebrations take to the road with Ryder22 August 2018

Number 2 Mechanical Transport Squadron at RAF Wittering is promoting the RAF’s 100th anniversary with two IVECO Stralis trucks in a commemorative livery.

Sponsored by Ryder, the wrapping took two days and the trucks are being used at special events across the country as part of the RAF’s celebratory year.

The Squadron, better known as 2MT, delivers the RAF’s road-going heavy lift capability. Originally founded during the Battle of Britain to transport vital spares between RAF stations, today 2MT provides specialist military drivers and equipment to support exercises and operations.

“Ryder is proud to have worked with the MOD for more than 20 years, providing white fleet vehicles for the RAF’s transportation needs... We are delighted to be supporting the celebrations,” said David Hunt, Ryder Europe’s vice president and managing director.

Group captain Tony Keeling, station commander at RAF Wittering, added: “We’re very grateful to our partners at Ryder for enabling 2MT to make such a colourful and inspiring contribution to RAF100.”
