The new trailer is replacing an older Nooteboom unit and will be operated with a Scania R560 tractor.
The SFCL 48 trailer has rail lines on the upper and lower deck, and is fitted with hydraulic steady legs with large feet to maximise stability.
The trailer also has a low deck height and a beavertail for easier loading and unloading, along with BPW air suspension with raise/lower controls.
Alan Blaylock, managing director of the Carlisle-based firm, says most of his business is based around the railways, so he had specific requirements for the equipment: "The trailer not only needed the capacity to carry specialised loads, but the durability and manoeuvrability to reach sites across the rail network.
"The nature of this business means our delivery and collection points are not always located along surfaced roads, nor do they always have ample turning space."
The £50,000 trailer has been equipped with fold forward ramps which, according to Andover, can reduce fuel consumption by up to 15%.
