Rail engineering operator is on board with Volvo FH tractors03 February 2015

Plant hire and rail engineering business AB2000 has taken delivery of two Volvo FH tractors, after a previous FH unit used for heavy haulage was described as “exceptional”.

Supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland, the Glasgow-based operator's latest additions feature Globetrotter cabs, I-Shift gearboxes and 6x4 chassis with hub reduction axles.

Operating to STGO CAT 3 specifications, the FH16-750s are supplied with five-year Volvo R&M contracts.

"Volvo trucks have always performed well in our fleet, but a previous FH16-580 tractor unit used on heavy haulage operations was an exceptional vehicle," says Cameron Barr, AB2000's transport manager. "It paved the way for the arrival of these two FH16-750 flagships."

AB2000 maintains its equipment in-house and says the two FH16-750s will haul a variety of low loader and crane ballast transporting trailers.
