Reconditioning firm takes DPF cleaning to 1,000 per month 28 November 2014

National automotive parts reconditioning specialist DPF Clean Team says it can now clean up to 1,000 DPFs (diesel particulate filters) and SCR (selective catalytic reduction) units per month.

The Leicestershire-based firm invested a five figure sum in state-of-the-art equipment, and says that cleaning DPFs instead of buying replacement parts is very cost effective for fleet operators.

"There is a strong link between CO2 output and fleet costs, because emissions are proportional to the volume of fuel a vehicle burns," states Cameron Bryce, director of DPF Clean Team, which already works with several car supermarkets, Leicestershire Metropolitan Police Force, Avis and Europcar.

"What people may not be aware of is that, just like any other component, the DPF unit requires regular maintenance and cleaning, because the cost of replacement can be high," he continues.

"Regular checks and cleaning can also improve efficiencies, which can fall as the unit gets clogged – an extremely important consideration for fleet managers looking to keep costs on an even keel."

The new equipment not only cleans DPFs, he claims, but the dry-cleaning process is also used for other automotive components, which can be expensive to replace if they become worn.
