Regulator suspends food and drink supplier for a month10 April 2018
A Rutherglen-based food and drink supplier has been suspended from running vehicles this month, after it was found to have put business matters ahead of vehicle safety.
At a public inquiry in Edinburgh last month, Scotland’s traffic commissioner Joan Aitken was told that GSR Distributions – trading as Spiceway – was found to be operating a defective vehicle in July 2017, and the vehicle had not had a routine inspection for four months.
“The six-weekly safety inspection cycle for the operator’s vehicles had fallen into a haphazard state,” said the regulator, in her written decision.
“The operator … did fall into the unacceptable way of putting business priorities ahead of a tight regime for ensuring vehicles were roadworthy.”
