Removals firm loads up with second Fuso Canter29 August 2017

Removals firm and haulier JWD Enterprises has ordered a second 7.5-tonne Fuso Canter, after reporting excellent performance from its first, identical vehicle.

Like its predecessor, the next Canter 7C18 will be supplied by Mercedes-Benz dealer Rossetts Commercials, and is on contract hire through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.

East Sussex-based JWD is particularly impressed with the Canter’s payload: with the Transport Enterprises box body, air management kit and 1,000kg Dhollandia column tail-lift, the vehicle still has a carrying capacity of 3,220kg.

Also, with the Ecofficiency package, the Canter range offers fuel savings of up to 9% compared with the previous version. JWD’s vehicle is powered by a 3.0-litre common-rail diesel engine with 175bhp output, driving through a fully automated Duonic dual clutch transmission.

The truck has already proved its worth on fuel economy, particularly while on assignments to Paris and Dusseldorf.

“We used 140 litres of fuel on the 700-mile round trip to Germany, which equated to a return of nearly 23mpg,” says JWD’s David Dobbs. “That’s a figure we’re very happy with.”

The operator runs 13 trucks, including a pair of new 12-tonne Mercedes-Benz Atego 1224s. The fleet is maintained at Rossetts Commercials’ Eastbourne branch.
