Removals firm unpacks benefits with Euro 6 MAN TGL05 August 2014

Removals business George Lambert & Son has taken delivery of a Euro 6 MAN TGL 10.220 4x2 rigid, with a special 'top pod' to sleep two men, in addition to the driver.

Based on MAN's factory 'L' sleeper cab, the 42m3 body by Unique Van Bodies has been fitted with the extra top pod to take two bunks, allowing for three-man overnight operations.

Supplied by dealer Harwoods Truck Centre, the latest MAN truck joins two others on the Fernhurst, West Sussex-based operator's fleet – a nine- and a 14-year-old MAN L2000 which have clocked up 185,000 and 320,000 miles respectively.

Lamberts specifies trucks with high-power engines to provide better fuel consumption and longer service life. Managing director Neal Lambert explains: "A higher-than-required engine rating means less wear and tear, and so it's proved. Our trucks do low mileage, but they never miss a beat, and they'll be good for another 10 years."

He adds: "A bigger engine means lower revs and that means fuel savings. Our new Euro 6 10-tonne MAN is regularly giving us 15mpg – a full mile-per-gallon better than other recent trucks in our fleet."
