Renault Kerax and Lander set for Easymix Concrete 01 July 2011

Concrete delivery firm EasyMix Concrete has added two new Renault Premium Lander 270.18 6x2 chassis cabs, fitted with a midlift axle, and two Renault Kerax 380.32 8x4s to its 18-strong mixed fleet – with a further two Kerax on order from Renault Trucks Chiltern.

EasyMix Concrete managing director Andrew Collins says important factors in the firm's purchase decision was the chassis specifications for both vehicles, as well as the technical support from Renault Trucks UK which ensured the optimum weight distribution for its Roadmaster Concrete Mixer bodies.

The new trucks join Knebworth-based EasyMix Concrete's 'concrete on tap' operation, delivering concrete and floor screed to the building trade across the South East. The Kerax will undertake larger heavy duty applications, carrying up to 10m3, while the Landers' smaller body will work on tight access site supply around London.

"The span of the Kerax is spot on," says Collins. "The cement bin sits well on the wheelbase in the centre of the fourth axle. On site, the height of the chassis gives us excellent ground clearance and the 44 tonne gvw offers 4 tonnes over some marques, which is a real insurance policy if it rains all night and saturates the aggregate."

And he adds: "Our new 6x2 Landers are some of the first in the UK fitted with a midlift axle, and are ideal for our specialist vehicle application. Driver feedback is also good:, they like the truck and the new automatic gearbox has gone down well."

All bodywork has been undertaken by sister company, Roadmaster Concrete Mixers Europe, based in Welwyn-Garden-City.
