Renault launches new truck range ahead of Euro 6 21 June 2013

With the approaching introduction of Euro 6 engine legislation, Renault Trucks has renewed its entire vehicle range.

Subject of a €2 billion investment from the Volvo Group, the move sees the creation of new models for all of its long haul tractor unit, distribution chassis cab and construction sector commercial vehicles.

Renault Trucks T (long-haul) has been designed to offer haulage companies "the perfect balance between fuel savings and life on board", according to the company.

Helped by a new aerodynamic cab, the T truck combines the efficiency of the outgoing Premium Long Distance, with the Magnum's comfort and prestige. It also offers an improved powertrain lineup – 11- and 13-litre Euro 6 options from the Volvo stable.

For its new Construction vehicles, Renault Trucks now offers two distinct ranges – the C construction range and the K heavy construction range.

C trucks are available in two cab widths and predominantly focus on high payloads, fuel efficiency and comfort – said to be comparable to that of a long-distance vehicle.

Meanwhile, the its K range claims to set new standards, in terms of ruggedness and obstacle clearance, and also offers what's claimed to be the best approach angle on the market.

When designing its new Distribution range, Renault Trucks says it "drew upon its expertise, its familiarity with the sector's activities and the environment, as well as the ... advantages of the current range".

Either way, although its new D range is based on preceding models, it has evolved into a much clearer offering which consists of a single range involving three truck models.

New Euro 6 5-litre and 8-litre engines have been added, based on Volvo's technology and adapted to urban applications. Renault says they offer improved levels of performance and reliability over te previous power units.

As for the three D models, they are D (10—18-tonne) D Wide (16—26-tonne) and the D Access, a low entry cab version, covering from 18 to 26-tonnes.

This offering will soon be augmented by an additional vehicle, co-developed with Nissan, that serves the 3.5—7.5 tonne market.
