Renault package flattens competition at Comley Demolition06 December 2018

Basingstoke-based contractor Comley Demolition has taken delivery of its first Renault trucks, citing build quality and dealer service as key to the deal.

Supplied by dealer Renault Trucks South, the two 32-tonne Range C440 8x4s have optional steel bumpers for better ground clearance and are fitted with Boughton Engineering hookloader lifting gear.

Toby Comley, managing director, says the dealer “put together a great deal so we were confident we were getting robust, well built and reliable trucks with a comprehensive maintenance and inspection package, primed to deliver maximum vehicle uptime”.

Specified to ADR Cat 9 and FORS compliant with four-camera system, left-turn warning, strobe lights, beacon bar and BBS reverse alarm, the C440s are powered by DTI 13-litre, six-cylinder engines, delivering a maximum torque of 2200Nm from 900-1,404rpm.

“Our trucks get a hard life but we are confident the C440 is up to the job,” he adds.

“It’s robust and has a higher ride height avoiding damage on our most challenging assignments. Also the automated gearbox with off-road mode as standard is perfect for our most testing operations.”

Inside, the Range Cs have been specified with four-point cab air suspension, one-touch electric windows, electronically regulated air conditioning and leather steering wheel with cruise and telephone control.

“Introducing a new brand into the fleet, especially one we haven’t used before, can be challenging but the drivers have given the Range Cs a big thumbs up so far,” says Comley.

“The day cabs are comfortable and fuel economy is good, too. We are all delighted with the new trucks.”
