Renault presents zero-emission vehicles to Paris climate change event02 December 2015

Renault Trucks is attending COP21, the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris (30 November to 11 December 2015), presenting two zero-emission vehicles – an all-electric hydrogen fuel cell 4.5-tonne Maxity Electric vehicle (pictured) and a 16-tonne Range D all-electric truck, currently being trialled with Guerlain in Paris.

The hydrogen fuel cell-powered Maxity Electric was developed in with Symbio FCell, La Poste, McPhy Energy and the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône, and is being exhibited as part of the ‘Paris of the Future’ initiative.

Renault and La Post, the French Post Office, have been operating this vehicle with Symbio FCell’s hydrogen fuel cell since February 2015.

The fuel cell doubles the vehicle’s operating range to 200km and refuelling time is similar to that of a diesel vehicle – overcoming two primary limitations of electric vehicles.

In addition, visitors to COP21can see the all-electric Range D, which has been undergoing trials for the past 18 months with Speed Distribution Logistique, a carrier for Guerlain.

The vehicle generates no noise or polluting emissions during its nightly deliveries to Guerlain’s boutiques in the French capital.

It carries out 200km delivery rounds in all-electric mode, taking advantage of partial recharges during its carefully planned delivery route.

Renault Trucks says its aim is to prepare a cost-effective, zero-emission solution for clients by the year 2020.
