Renault Trucks releases Euro 6 engines at Hannover IAA Show 18 September 2012

Renault Trucks new Euro 6 engines, being shown for the first time at the IAA commercial vehicle show in Hanover, are being claimed as high on performance and low on fuel consumption – similar or superior to its Euro 5 engines.

For its heavy-duty range, Renault Trucks is offering a new six-cylinder 11 litre engine (DTI 11), available with three power ratings: 380bhp (1,800Nm torque), 430mhp (2,050Nm) and 460bhp (2,200Nm).

Injection is based on a common rail system, and the DTI 11 engine also includes an SCR (selective catalytic reduction) after-treatment system operating in a controlled temperature regime that includes EGR (exhaust gases recirculation) during engine start-up, and a diesel particulate filter.

Identical technology has also been chosen for Renault's new six-cylinder 13 litre engine, with the exception of the injection system, which is based on an electronic pump injector system.

Power ratings in the 13 litre engine are: 440bhp (2,200Nm), 480bhp (2,400 Nm) and 520bhp (2550 Nm).

Meanwhile, Renault's engines for medium duty include five- and eight-litre power plants – four- and six-cylinders respectively.

The former will be available in 210bhp (800Nm) and 240bhp (900Nm) versions. Meanwhile, DTI 8, will come in 250bhp (950Nm), 280bhp (1,050Nm) and 320bhp (1,200Nm) variants.
