Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH passes antitrust 05 May 2010

The joint venture between Düsseldorf-based Rheinmetall Group and MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG is now up and running, following approval by European competition authorities.

Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles GmbH (RMMV) is the new company name, base in Munich, and the organisation says it will focus on wheeled tactical vehicles – protected and unprotected command and multifunctional.

Rheinmetall holds a 51% stake in the company, with the remaining 49% held by MAN Nutzfahrzeuge.

As a first step, the development and sales activities of both companies in the military sector have already been transferred to RMMV.

In a second contractually agreed step, production facilities of the partner companies are to be integrated into the joint venture by the end of next year (2011), though they will remain at their present locations in Kassel, Germany (Rheinmetall) and Vienna, Austria (MAN).
