Roadside returns for first new Roger Dyson14 January 2011

Roadside Vehicle Services, which specialises in car and commercial vehicle repairs, has taken delivery of another recovery unit form Roger Dyson – this a Hydraloader 8000La (low approach) slidebed.

Partner David McVey explains that the new truck is mounted on a 26-tonne Mercedes-Benz Axor 2528 chassis bought as a curtainsider and then converted in Roger Dyson's in Droitwich, Worcestershire factory.

This Hydraloader has an 8,000kg capacity platform that is remote radio-controlled and can recover anything up to a fully-laden 7.5-tonne truck.

Interestingly, this truck's loading angle can be reduced further, thanks to the air suspended chassis, which also has a steering rear axle for increased manoeuvrability.

McVey confirms that the Paisley-based operator has been running used Dysons for years. "We know from long experience how well made they are, and how good the after sales service is," he says. "In the rare event that something goes wrong, Dyson's parts delivery is always quick, efficient and professional – there's never any argument."

And he adds: "You can buy cheaper but Dyson equipment is the best – it's as simple as that. It's highly cost-effective to operate, because it's so reliable and well-built. So if we decide to sell this new one after a few years, we know it's still going to command a decent price."
