Robinsons says it’s ready for more Volvo coaches18 October 2012

Blackburn coaches operator Robinsons Holidays has boosted its fleet by adding a Volvo B9R coach with Plaxton Panther bodywork.

The Lancashire operator's line-up now stands at 16 vehicles, 11 of which are built on the Volvo chassis. "We know Volvo very well," explains Robinsons Holidays director David Lord.

"Our new B9R has already entered service and we've just finalised the purchase of another Volvo coach, to be delivered at the end of this year."

Robinsons' new Volvo B9R coach features a 9.4-litre diesel engine capable of 380bhp, mated to the Volvo I-Shift gearbox. Other technologies include an onboard reversing camera.

Lord explains that the reason the firm chose the Volvo B9R was primarily that it allows a generous seating capacity of 53, but on a two-axle chassis. He also highlights the back-up, service and support from Volvo, supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials, in Deeside and Preston.

"Our vehicles cover a lot of miles," explains Lord. "They travel all over the country and down to our hotels on the south coast. So we need to be able to trust in the product and by specifying Volvo we can."
