Roger Dyson unit added to Yalberton Autos fleet20 October 2010

Torbay-based Yalberton Autos has invested in a Roger Dyson slideback recovery unit.

Managing director John Denbow explains that he has previously purchased vehicles for the 17-strong fleet from a rival body-builder, but decided it was time for a change.

"I ran a Dyson more than a decade ago, but it was stolen," he recalls. "Dyson has been in the back of my mind recently and, as this new unit was keenly priced, I've decided to dip my toe again."

And he adds that first impressions are "very favourable". The recovery truck is based on a 7.5-tonne Mitsubishi Fuso Canter 7C18D with Double crewcab. It has been fitted with a Dyson Hydraloader 3000 low approach slidebed, cast in lightweight aluminium, as well as a second vehicle lift.

While the truck may not have been the cheapest available Denbow comments: "The Hydraloader appears to be very sturdy and well built, so I'm happy that it represents excellent value for money."

Driver Darren Hurst is also pleased with the company's new acquisition: "This Dyson is 100% better than my previous vehicle," he asserts. "It looks a lot stronger, the bed is simple to operate and the fact that the winch is remote-controlled, rather than manually operated, makes life a lot easier."
