Rotherham council chooses Volvo low entry cabs 02 March 2011

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council has taken delivery of six Volvo FE low entry cab trucks for refuse collection.

"The new trucks are going extremely well and I am very pleased with their performance and reliability," comments Rotherham fleet manager, Craig Simpson. "We have 12 Volvos on our gritting fleet and a number in other applications, so we already know that the Volvo is a quality product."

Simpson says drivers are impressed, too. "They say that the Volvo FE is a superior truck and a real step up from the previous vehicles on the fleet," he states.

The new 23-tonners have been acquired by Translinc, on a contract hire agreement, and the organisation will also be providing the maintenance support.

All the vehicles have been fitted with a Terberg specialist body for segregated recycled waste, and they join Rotherham's domestic recycling fleet of more than 200 vehicles, already collecting glass, textiles, paper and tin.
