Ryder extends Bridgestone tyres deal across all trucks 10 April 2012

Commercial vehicle hire specialist Ryder has extended its exclusive deal with tyre and rubber manufacturer Bridgestone, becoming that company's largest truck customer in Europe.

The contract, which started in March this year (2012), has been extended to cover Ryder's expanded network, following its acquisition of Hill Hire in June 2011. Ryder now operates from 29 locations and has an enlarged fleet of more than 24,000 trucks and trailers.

"As this new contract demonstrates, our acquisition of Hill Hire is now translating into benefits for more customers," comments Ryder fleet services director Terry Dillon.

"The enhanced buying power of the combined business will ensure reliability and consistency of tyre quality across our national network, enabling us to offer an improved service," he continues.

"All of our new and retread tyres will be sourced from Bridgestone," adds Dillon. "As well as being environmentally friendly, they are highly economical, delivering very low operating costs per kilometre."
