Ryder has right ingredients for Hain Daniels16 August 2016

Food manufacturer Hain Daniels has upgraded its chilled distribution fleet with 10 trucks and seven trailers, all acquired on contract hire through Ryder.

The latest vehicles are a mix of Iveco 7.5-tonners and DAF 18-tonne and 26-tonne refrigerated trucks, fitted with Carrier direct-drive chiller units, and bring its total Ryder-sourced fleet to 22 trucks and 10 trailers.

James Cranfield, head of group supply chain and logistics for the food business, says that following a competitive tender, Ryder was selected because “it provided the best commercial proposition as well as unrivalled national service and support”.

Hain Daniels has a national distribution centre in Peterborough, from where it distributes its branded product – including New Covent Garden Soup Co, Hartley’s, Robertson’s and SunPat – as well as desserts, prepared fruit and juices.

The operator uses rigid vehicles for city centre deliveries as well as to supermarket chains, hotels and foodservice outlets. It also uses tractor units and trailers sourced from Ryder for bulk deliveries from its eight UK manufacturing plants.
