Scania’s rental arm confirms premium trucks order 08 March 2013

Scania Truck Rental, the nationwide commercial vehicle rental service operated by Scania (Great Britain), has made a multi-million pound investment in 165 high-spec new Scania trucks.

The new vehicles are mostly G- and R-series tractor units, with a choice of 4x2 and 6x2 wheel plans, including twin-steer and pusher axle options, as well as some rigids.

Engine outputs range from 440 to 500bhp, with both EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and SCR (selective catalytic reduction) variants.

Manual and automatic transmissions have also been specified across the new truck fleet, with Scania's latest generation Opticruise automated gear selection system included in the mix.

Cab choices include Highline and Topline options and the special Griffin Pack, which includes lavish interior fitments on the 500bhp V8 trucks.

New rigids in the fleet include box body and curtainsider options, with gross vehicle weights of 18- and 28-tonnes.

Each one of Scania Truck Rental's new vehicles has been equipped with Communicator 200, Scania's on-board telematics system, which enables operators to monitor vehicle and driver performance and track the vehicle's whereabouts.

"These new vehicles, which represent both fleet replacements and additions, are being introduced to fulfil the growing demand for high quality rental trucks," states Steve Martin, general manager, Scania Truck Rental.

"We see this move to quality as a marked development within our industry, with more and more operators telling us their customers are demanding ever-higher standards from their haulage and distribution partners," he adds.
