Schwartz spices up fleet with 232 Berlingos01 October 2013

Schwartz, the UK's best-known herbs and spices brand, has taken delivery of 232 Citroën Berlingo crew vans – one of the largest orders ever placed for the model.

The HDi 90 manual L2 750 X vehicles will be used by Schwartz's nationwide team of retail sales and support merchandisers.

Supplied by dealer Citroën London West, the five-seat vans are being supplied on Lex Autolease two-year contract hire agreements, with maintenance included. Annual mileages will vary from 13,500 to 23,500, depending on each vehicle's location.

Schwartz, part of McCormick UK headquartered in Haddenham, Bucks, has specified air conditioning and metallic paint. Schwartz also upgraded the Berlingo's standard Trafficmaster telematics – which includes Smartnav satellite navigation and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking – to include Fleet Director, for real-time fleet management.

"After an intense, two-year vehicle evaluation, we decided that the Berlingo crew van provided the optimum combination of required operational benefits. These included improved load security and increased load space to allow for seasonal peaks, lower running costs and the ability for our drivers to carry their friends and families out of hours," says Tracey Hoare, Schwartz field support manager.

The Berlingo crew vans were delivered to Schwartz at 13 locations, so each driver could have a demonstration of the vehicle and understand the features of the Trafficmaster system.

Martin Hamill, Citroën's fleet director comments: "These vans offer the Schwartz retail merchandise team the flexibility of being able to use their vehicles seven days a week, with the added benefit of much lower benefit-in-kind tax liability than their previous MPVs."
