Scottish operator boosts bus service with Enviro20025 February 2019

Scottish bus and coach operator Stuart’s of Carluke has taken delivery of the first of a three-bus Enviro200 order from Alexander Dennis (ADL).

The new arrival is a 10.8m, 39-seater and joins the operator’s 60-strong fleet. It will be followed by two similar models later in the year.

Director Stuart Shevill says: “We have an extensive fleet of small, luxury minibuses and large executive coaches, and are now keen to strengthen our bus operations, hence our introduction of Enviro200s, which enjoy an enviable reputation in the single-deck market.

“They will operate primarily on the 240X Route between Carluke and Glasgow but such is the flexibility of the Enviro200 that they will also be prime candidates to support school and college transportation contracts, airport transfers and local service routes that we provide on behalf of Strathclyde Passenger Transport.”

All three of the vehicles will be powered by Cummins ISBe four-cylinder, 180bhp stop-start Euro VI engines and Voith gearboxes. The first has black leather seats that incorporate pods with mobile phone holders, USB charging points, bell push, reading light and coat hook, along with LED saloon lighting.
