Shell raises the level with new fuel sensor09 December 2013

Shell has introduced an ultrasonic fuel sensor option for Shell FuelSave Partner, its fuel management telematics system for heavy goods vehicles.

The new device accurately detects fuel levels in up to two HGV fuel tanks. It can capture the full tank capacity of an HGV when in motion and can be installed on a range of vehicles.

"The design of standard fuel gauges often limits the accuracy of fuel level data in certain operating ranges," explains Sophie Fenner, Shell's smart transport project manager. "The ultrasonic fuel sensor has been specially developed to provide a high degree of accuracy, no matter how much fuel is in the tank."

CV fleets already using the FuelSave Partner system can add the ultrasonic sensor for a monthly charge.
