Silverstone wins double ROI with defect management software22 February 2019

Silverstone, home of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, is using Assetminder software to manage its 200-strong fleet of commercial vehicles and high-performance cars, and says parts management improvements have recouped twice the cost of the system.

The site wanted an easy-to-use defect management system, giving visibility of all tasks from inspection to completion, including full maintenance management, along with parts.

It chose Assetminder after researching the market. Workshop manager Jamie Nile says: “The initial thing that attracted us to Assetminder was its very intuitive and user-friendly interface. The screens were uncluttered and the mobile app for the technicians was so simple that 30 minutes’ training was all that was needed to get them up and running.”

Technicians now complete inspections and job cards on tablet devices, using the camera to take photos of defects where required. Defects picked up during an inspection can be added to a job card on the same tablet for immediate attention. The completed repair automatically updates the vehicle history file.

Parts used on each job can now be captured on each job card, ensuring complete traceability and control. “The cost savings that can be achieved from this aspect alone will pay for the Assetminder system twice over,” says Lee Thomas, Silverstone’s finance and contracts manager.
