Simon Gibson’s massive fleet expansion goes to Volvo 20 March 2017

Simon Gibson Transport has commissioned 51 new Volvo 6x2 tractor units, all equipped with factory-fitted light-weight Volvo pusher axles.

The new trucks are fleet additions for the Goole-based international bulk powder and granular materials logistics specialist, bringing its total now in operational to 186 trucks.

The bulk of the order was for 31 high-spec Globetrotter-cabbed FH-500 tractor units equipped with the I-Shift AMT (automated manual gearbox).

The remainder of the order was for 20 FM-460 tractor units.

All are subject to Volvo Gold R&M contracts and are being maintained in the Volvo dealer network and at Crossroads Truck and Bus, Hull, which supplied all the new trucks.

“Our continuing investment in the fleet provides us with access to Volvo’s latest safety, fuel and emissions saving technology,” comments managing director Simon Gibson.

“We have had excellent experience with Volvo and with Crossroads over the last 17 or more years,” he continues.

“These latest vehicles, which have the factory-fitted lightweight pusher-axle, also offer a very competitive payload advantage.”
