Six buses come at once for Scottish operator13 March 2020

Ayrshire-based Shuttle Buses has taken delivery of six new Mellor buses in a fortnight to meet its expanded contract with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport.

The six new additions are Strata low floor buses and join two other Mellor vehicles in the operator’s 55-strong fleet. They are now in service seven days a week, providing dial-a-ride services for elderly and disabled people across Glasgow.

“When we needed six new buses at very short notice for this expanded SPT contract, we immediately got in touch with Mellor – and they were able to deliver despite the tight schedule,” says David Granger, director of Shuttle Buses.

“As well as their manoeuvrability, we have been particularly impressed with the fuel economy – we are regularly getting more than 20mpg, which compares very favourably with many other vehicles.”
