SJ Bargh skims swift savings with Goodyear deal27 April 2016

Milk logistics specialist SJ Bargh says it has already seen savings in the first month since moving its 150-strong fleet to a tyre management deal with Goodyear, after 40 years with another premium tyre brand.

The pence-per-kilometre (PPK) deal sees Goodyear fitting KMax and Omnitrac tyres, and providing support through its TruckForce network.

“We were impressed with the Goodyear KMax and Omnitrac products, and the team’s flexible approach to our requirements,” says Steve Thompson, SJ Bargh’s general manager for fleet services.

“We run a tough operation, with eight-wheeled milk tankers covering the North West, Midlands and Wales. In addition we run a fleet of tractor units and trailers, both on general haulage and milk logistics. We needed a strong performing tyre on mileage and fuel efficiency, coupled with a robust service package.”

The KMax tyre is designed for high mileage operations, while the mixed service Omnitrac range combines high mileage and enhanced traction for on- and off-road use.

“Even within the first month we have already seen savings as a result of switching to Goodyear and the PPK model,” reports Thompson.

“The product is of course important, but the service support at Goodyear is exceptionally strong.”
