Skills for Logistics launches the Standard of Excellence Driver CPC06 October 2014

Sector skills council Skills for Logistics – which represents the freight logistics sector – has launched the Standard For Excellence Driver CPC, a scheme to recognise training providers that deliver high quality training.

The scheme has been developed following a six-month consultation, which revealed that employers need an easier way to locate the best training providers.

Providers will be able to display the Standard's kitemark if they can demonstrate they meet the Standard of Excellence in five key areas: trainer quality; course preparation and delivery; learning resources and environment; pre- and post-training delivery; and a commitment to excellence.

Dr Ross Moloney, CEO of Skills for Logistics, says: "This is not a mandatory scheme, but we know there are many training providers who would like to compete on quality, not just price, and that there are employers and individuals who want more visibility about high quality training in the sector."

Skills for Logistics will maintain a database of approved providers. The scheme has been endorsed by John Lewis Distribution.
