SKS selects Isuzu Grafter for mobile farm animal treatment 16 May 2011

An Isuzu truck has just joined SKS Foottrimming Service vehicle fleet in an unusual application, equipped to provide mobile preventive and curative treatment for cattle herds in the South of England.

The compact overall size of the Isuzu Grafter 3.5t rigid chassis cab, matched to its 150bhp power output were among key features that drove the choice.

The Grafter N35.150 (S) has been fitted with a purpose-designed, rollover crush that secures the animal in a fully approved safe and humane manner prior to treatment.

The crush itself operates from a dc battery bank, enabling hoof trimming to be done out in the fields, and the specialised body also features a high-powered pressure washer, with a turbo rotary nozzle, for equipment cleaning.

"We had a 2003 model trailer crush that needed replacing and the Isuzu Grafter was the perfect choice," explains SKS Foottrimming Service's Jon Clarke. "The compact nature of the Isuzu means we can easily reach remote farm locations and it certainly provides us with a more powerful and robust chassis."
