Sky’s the limit for Stertil Koni vertical platform lift14 August 2014

Commercial vehicle lift manufacturer Stertil Koni has been awarded a European patent for Skylift, its space-saving vertical platform lift.

Available in three models with capacities of 20, 25 and 35 tonnes, the Skylift can also be used in tandem to offer maximum capacity of 70 tonnes. All models can be installed either recessed or surface mounted.

With no cross beams, the Skylift can be fixed at a width compatible with customer needs and within the confines of the workshop.

Varying platform lengths mean any vehicle, from tractors to articulated bendibuses, can be accommodated.

A fully galvanised model has also been designed for use in wash bays and chassis wash facilities.

One of the key design features recognised by the European Patent Office is the lift's Y-shaped construction that supports the base plates, ensuring that load forces are distributed as effectively as possible. Conventional platform lifts often have diverse assembly elements individually welded to the underside of the carrier, which can cause issues with alignment due to the high vertical and horizontal forces.
