Spartacus slashes costs, with Verilocation tracking 17 June 2015

Secure waste disposal and recycling specialist Spartacus Solutions says it has cut fuel consumption by 8% and insurance premiums by 10% since installing in-cab cameras and vehicle tracking, from Verilocation, eight months ago.

Gary Tait, managing director of Spartacus, explains that the vehicle tracking system – which plugs into the engine's ECU and is monitored from the central traffic office – has enabled Spartacus to review driver performance and bear down on engine idling across the fleet.

Meanwhile, with forward facing witness cameras providing real-time video surveillance, the firm has been able to instantly resolve disputes involving traffic incidents and provide evidence of vehicle location and time, if customer deliveries are late.

"To maintain effective fleet control, we required a tracking and monitoring system that could capture all the relevant vehicle performance, visual records and geographic data required to keep us and our customers fully informed," explains Tait.

Spartacus now has the ability to monitor every vehicle from a central control point, but can also provide vehicle and schedule information on a regional basis for every business in the Spartacus alliance.

"Whatever the [waste] materials in question, a confidential and secure service is required and certainly the fleet management systems provided by Verilocation enable us to keep tight control while holding costs down," says Tait.
