Stagecoach Group up for environmental award 12 September 2011

Stagecoach Group is in the running for a top environmental honour, having being shortlisted in the 2011 Scottish Green awards.

The Perth-based transport group has been named as one of four finalists in the Best Green Large Company category at the awards ceremony to be held in Glasgow on 29 September 2011.

It is the third consecutive year that Stagecoach has been shortlisted in the awards. In 2009, Stagecoach was named Best Travel Provider at the event and also won the Best PR Campaign award.

"We are delighted to have been shortlisted for an award for the third consecutive year for the work we are doing to become a more sustainable business and help our customers lead greener lives," states Stagecoach director of communications Steven Stewart.

And he continues: "We've set ourselves some stretching targets to cut the carbon footprint of our business in the UK and North America. It's the hard work and initiative being shown by our bus and rail employees that is central to the progress we are making."
