Stagefreight puts three Range Ts in the spotlight04 March 2019

Leeds-based Stagefreight has taken delivery of three Range T480 4x2 High Cabs to transport stage, sound and lights for major live music events and theatre tours around the UK and abroad.

Supplied by dealer JDS Trucks and Vans, the new additions are Stagefreight’s first Renault trucks and join a 30-strong HGV fleet.

“We were won over by the T High’s reputation, its sturdy chassis, reliable engine, good looks and great space in the cab,” says Ian Uttley, Stagefreight’s director.

The tractor units are powered by Renault’s DTI 13-litre engine, which produces 467bhp and 2,400Nm of torque, and paired with a 12-speed Optidriver automated transmission system.

Safety features include lane departure warning system, AEBS and anti-runaway automated park brake. “These features were just what I was looking for – 98% of our fleet is now Euro VI and with the T Highs, which are new, modern and as clean as possible, we are doing the best we can to reduce our environmental impact as well as putting road safety first,” says Uttley.

Drivers can be on the road for up to 16 weeks on a tour, so the cabs are specified with two bunks including the ‘Ultimate’ upper bunk that transforms into storage with access ladder and luggage net, air-suspended seat with leather trim and 40-litre ‘quiet’ fridges.

He adds: “It’s our first time doing business with JDS Trucks and Vans and, as well as a fantastic vehicle for a competitive deal, the five-year bumper-to-bumper R&M package was the icing on the cake – it just takes away all the stress.”
