Stalkers Transport drives up fuel performance with DAF New XF31 May 2018

Stalkers Transport Services has taken delivery of six DAF New XF 480 tractors with Super Space Cabs and ‘FTG’ 6x2 twin-steer axle configurations – replacing six same spec DAF CF trucks.

The upgrade comes after the Cumbria-based operator tested a New XF demonstrator, which delivered a “significant uplift” in fuel performance, according to managing director Karen Stalker (pictured).

“The demonstrator was worked very hard indeed and an 8.9mpg average was a remarkable achievement following such a tough work-out,” she says.

“The new fleet has already boosted our fleet average by over 8.5% and we’re delighted with that.”

Fuel economy is expected to improve even more, she adds, particularly thanks to the introduction of DAF driver training.

Stalkers Transport maintains its fleet in house, and provides a third party repair and service facility for other operators.
