Stertil Koni duo simplifies hub and caliper removal 04 August 2014

Stertil Koni has launched a wheel hub trolley jack and mini caliper crane designed to simplify the removal of hubs and brake calipers in a safe, one-man operation.

Commenting that the job usually requiring at least two technicians to ensure safely, Stertil Koni general manager Tony Edge explains that the new equipment makes it faster, easier and, most important, safer.

The wheel hub trolley jack provides a safe lifting capacity of 500kg and is operated by a manual pump handle.

It also incorporates a two-way tilt facility, with a lifting head adjustable through 70°, enabling simple and precise positioning.

Edge says that the jack's heavy-duty wheels spread the lifted load over a wide area so that, even when supporting a full load, it is easy to manoeuvre.

As for the mini caliper crane, he says it makes removal of brake calipers easy, even when working in restricted spaces and on vehicles with difficult or limited access.

Again, the crane can be safely used by one person, and hence reduces the chances of workplace injury and strains, as well as damage to the hub seals and components.

"Hub and brake caliper removal has always been a difficult, and sometimes risky job," comments Edge.

"When you're working on vehicles, especially vans, trucks and HGVs, there's no place for compromise."
