Swansea Council plugs into Peugeot Partner Electric06 August 2018

Swansea Council has taken delivery of 40 Peugeot Partner Electric SE L1 vans, citing Peugeot’s support with the charging infrastructure as key to the deal.

Supplied by dealer CEM Day, the vehicles are supplied on five-year contract hire, including maintenance and breakdown cover, from independent leasing firm Days Fleet.

The vans have been kitted out with ply lining and some have ‘Chapter 8’ high-visibility markings on the rear doors, depending on allocated use.

The Council already has 10 electric pool cars in its fleet, and the arrival of the Peugeot Electric vans makes this the largest local authority electric van fleet in Wales.

“An analysis of journeys and mileages clearly demonstrated their potential viability, while the preferred five-year lease equated to a budget-neutral position that enabled us to achieve a much greener fleet,” says Mark Barrow, fleet manager at Swansea Council.

Peugeot’s “excellent support”, he adds, enabled the council to install charging points at all key locations.
