Switch Mobility to supply 12 Metrocity Electric Buses to Tower Transit17 May 2022

Switch Mobility, formerly Optare, will supply a fleet of 12 Metrocity E-Buses to Tower Transit.

The fleet of Metrocitys will be deployed on Route 339, operating out of Lea Interchange and running between Shadwell and Leytonstone. Route 339 will be the first full EV Route run out of Lea Interchange.

Switch’s Metrocity electric bus combines a 250kWh NMC battery with a lightweight monocoque platform. The bus provides range of up to 180 miles with a charging time of below three hours.

Tower Transit will be the first customer for the updated 9.4m Metrocity.

Delivery of the vehicles is expected to commence in Q1 2023.
