Tale of two cities for bus and coach orders28 May 2015

It’s a tale of two cities – two Scottish cities – with the latest bus and coach order announcements, with Glasgow-based Mearns Exclusive Travel taking delivery of two Volvo B11Rs, while E&M Horsburgh has put two Optare Solos into operation on its Edinburgh Airport contract.

For Mearns, the B11R coaches are the first Volvo vehicles to join its 20-strong fleet and were selected following recommendation from another operator.

Both have Jonkheere bodywork, 53 seats and interior features such as screens, DVD, hot drink server, fridge and toilet.

Livingston-based E&M Horsburgh, meanwhile, chose the Optare Solo vehicles (pictured) for its PremiAir Parking shuttle operation at Edinburgh Airport.

The Euro 5, 9m-long Solos seat up to 21 passengers and are fitted with luggage racks and WiFi.

Eric Horsburgh, managing director, says the Solo was "the natural choice", adding: "We already have a number of Optare vehicles in our fleet, and we find them to be very reliable and extremely popular with our customers."
