Talking turkey: new Schmitz reefers for Bernard Matthews 01 December 2015

Norfolk-based poultry producer Bernard Matthews has taken delivery of six Schmitz Cargobull dual-temperature refrigerated trailers in preparation for its busiest season.

The latest reefers bring the number of Schmitz Cargobull trailers operated by Bernard Matthews to 41 – more than half of its fleet – and the new additions are replacements for older equipment.

Jeff Hellmore, transport operations manager, says: “When it came to replacing the trailers, Schmitz Cargobull was at the top of our list. We’ve always been very happy with our previous purchases and know from our extensive experience that a Schmitz Cargobull trailer is a high quality, cost-effective trailer.”

The trailers feature Ferroplast panels, which offer optimal insulation and are easy to repair in the event of damage. Unlike GRP, they do not absorb moisture, so do not increase the tare weight of the reefer over time.

Built at the manufacturer’s facility in Vreden, Germany, the trailers also come equipped with the a MF6 Multi-Function Floor, which not only reduces trailer weight – further increasing payload – but also offers better grip, a longer life expectancy and quieter operation.

The floor enables quick and easy cleaning, and exceeds the PIEK noise requirements, with a noise level of less than 60dB during loading and unloading.
