Tara RoadAir turn to Ryder and Euro 5 DAF trucks 08 January 2015

East Midlands-based Tara RoadAir is refreshing and expanding its truck fleet with seven new Euro 5 DAF vehicles on contract hire from Ryder.

The derogated Euro 5 DAF 7.5 tonne and 18 tonne curtainsiders will be used on urgent and overnight air freight deliveries across the UK fro the firm's base at East Midlands airport.

"We switched to sourcing our trucks on contract hire from Ryder at an early stage in the company's growth, as they provide us with the benefit of fixed costs, operational reliability and a superb brand image," comments Dave Courage, Tara's managing director.

"By choosing Ryder's derogated Euro 5 chassis, we had the opportunity to choose either automatic or manual transmission and it also allowed us to customise body specifications to suit our operational needs," he adds.

He also says the firm was familiar with Euro 5 truck technology and going with Ryder enabled it to avoid switching to Euro 6 technology "that is still largely unproven in the marketplace".

Courage started Tara RoadAir with a couple of vans 10 years ago and has since established a reputation for service excellence.

"We now have a fleet of 12 vehicles that are mainly used for transporting commodities such as aircraft parts and paper products to major airfreight terminals across mainland Britain as well as Northern Ireland."
