Ten DAF mid-lift tractors for Denby Transport 27 October 2014

Lincoln-based Denby Transport has taken delivery of six new DAF XF tractor units as part of an order of 10 Euro 6 DAF trucks.

The specialist haulier specified DAF FTG XF 460 6x2 tractors (with the 460bhp engine mated to AS Tronic transmissions) equipped with steering mid-lift axles and Super Space cabs.

The choice of new DAF trucks follows a short, two-week trial running a demonstrator from local dealership Ford & Slater.

"Due to the operational demands of our business, we do not have months to test new vehicles," comments Peter Denby, managing director of Denby Transport.

"We have run DAFs in our fleet for many, many years and we trust in them as a company and as a product."

Denby says part of that is about the back-up and international breakdown cover from DAF, which he insists is "head and shoulders above the competition".

He also praises Ford & Slater: "The DAF product has always been very good, but it is the product coupled with the dealer that makes DAF great."

And he adds: "We are very pleased with the fuel economy, achieving an average of 9mpg so far in the new vehicles. Our drivers are very happy, too, and they rate DAF as the best cab on the market."

All 10 vehicles are due to be in service by the end of this year (2014) and this latest order means that more than half of the Denby Transport fleet of 40 vehicles will be DAF.
