Terberg to launch new multi-role emergency vehicle at ESS 201621 July 2016

Terberg has announced that it will unveil the TACR4, the latest model in its range of TACR compact aircraft vehicles, at the Emergency Services Show 2016 (21-22 September; NEC, Birmingham).

The multi-role TACR4 is built on the Mercedes Sprinter 6x6 chassis, supplied by Rossett Mercedes in partnership with Oberaigner Automotive in Austria.

It is fitted with a selectable low range transmission and independent axle differential locks to give good off-road mobility.

The unit can be reconfigured quickly to suit various incident types and its multi-role capability means it can be used by local authorities, industrial and military markets, as well as in an airport environment.

The TACR4 can carry 1,400 litres of water, 80 litres of foam and is fitted with a Hale HPX pump, delivering more than 900 litres per minute.

Uniquely, the vehicle has a pump and roll capability which allows the front mounted monitor to be controlled from inside the crew cab while the vehicle is in motion, making it ideal for airport firefighting or wildfire application.

Alisdair Couper, managing director of Terberg DTS UK, describes it as “an exciting development”, adding: “The small TACR3 for category 2 airfields has been very successful and the introduction of the new TACR4 for category 3 airfields and other scenarios highlights our continued investment in the specialist vehicle sector.”
