Thompsons offers 300kg payload boost with new X-Lite21 May 2018

Bodybuilder Thompsons has revealed details of its new Loadmaster X-Lite, ahead of the vehicle’s launch later this month at TIP-Ex 18 (31 May to 2 June; Harrogate Convention Centre).

Described as “the most significant new body for a decade”, X-Lite’s design is based on the Loadmaster Lite but offers a 300kg weight saving thanks to the use of Hardox 500tuf steel – the first tipper body in the UK to use this.

The new steel is stronger and more resistant to abrasion, meaning the vehicle floor can be 20% thinner than the Loadmaster Lite (pictured).

Other changes include a 20% reduction in the side panel thickness, to just 3.2mm, and a 3mm-thick headboard.

“This new body will be of particular interest to payload-conscious aggregates hauliers who, in an ideal world, also want the extra strength of steel. For them, an extra 300kg of payload in one go is a huge step forward,” says Scott Burton of Thompsons.

The vehicle on show will be based on a Scania New Generation chassis, with air-operated automatic tailgate, Edbro tipping cylinder and VWS on-board weighing equipment.
