Tiger Trailers to build new £22m factory in Cheshire27 April 2017

Tiger Trailers is investing £22 million in a new, purpose-built factory in Cheshire.

The announcement was made this week at the CV Show, in Birmingham, and will see the creation of 270 new jobs, with 80 of those in the next 18 months.

The new facility will be four times the size of Tiger’s current base in Winsford and building will begin early in 2018, with the plan to move all production before the end of next year.

The expansion will take place in two phases – an initial £14m investment will see a 125,000 sq ft factory built on a new site in Cheshire. It will offer multiple production lines, a dedicated trailer showroom and a fully-equipped training school.

Phase two will be timed to meet business demand, and allow the addition of a further 100,000 sq ft of manufacturing capacity on site, and will grow the workforce to a 500-strong team, with a production capacity of 120 trailers per week.

“The current factory, although one of the most modern in Europe, was adapted to suit our requirements,” explains John Cartwright, joint managing director.

“The ability to design and build a new factory from the ground up will be hugely advantageous for us, providing a platform for growth and the next phase of the Tiger Trailers story.”

Fellow joint MD Steven Cartwright adds: “We’re going all out to make our new home a true flagship for UK manufacturing.”
