TIP Trailer set to open first of five ATFs in March 27 January 2011

TIP Trailer Services says it is expanding its FleetCare maintenance programme by opening the company's first ATF (Authorised Testing Facility) in the Midlands.

From 1 March, TIP will convert its DP (Designated Premises) lane at the Nuneaton depot into a VOSA approved ATF station, offering a full range of testing facilities, covering HGV, PSV and ADR commercial vehicles.

Jonny Clark, TIP UK FleetCare manager, says it's part of a rolling investment programme to develop an ATF network, and adds that TIP intends to increase its test slots nationwide by 50%– from 10,000 in 2010, to around 15,000 – as it converts a further five of its depots, at Avonmouth, Felixstowe, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester, into ATF premises.

"This was an obvious step forward for TIP. Our main business strategy for 2011 is to grow our services portfolio, and this gives TIP the opportunity to provide ATF facilities to both new and existing customers," says Clark.

"We already have a large customer base who take advantage of the benefits that TIP's on site workshops give them, by helping to reduce their fuel costs when repairs, servicing and maintenance are required before testing. We also have wash facilities on site at Nuneaton."
