TomTom and Continental join forces on truck data solution23 September 2016

TomTom Telematics and Continental have teamed up to develop a system that allows fleet managers to remotely transfer data from a truck to the office, without the need for the vehicle to return to base.

The new integration links TomTom’s Webfleet with Continental’s TIS-Web, and promises fleet managers greater control of digital tacho data.

Automated downloading of tachograph data from fleet vehicles, as well as automated uploading of tachograph data to TIS-Web, can help ease the burden of compliance with applicable legislation. As TIS-Web also analyses and assesses the tachograph data, it helps increase fleet efficiency by enabling fleet managers to reduce unwanted interruptions to vehicle schedules.

“Capturing and analysing tachograph data in a timely and effective way has always been a challenge for large vehicle fleet owners, often creating additional expense such as time and even fines,” said Thomas Schmidt, managing director at TomTom Telematics.

“By connecting trucks directly with the back office we are helping to build better connected businesses that are in control of their data and can achieve more and reach their goals easier, faster and more efficiently.”

TIS-Web customers who have already installed Webfleet can now merge the two into a single customer-friendly solution.

The new app – Webfleet TachoShare TIS-Web Connect – will be available to customers from October 2016, rolling out across Europe.

The monthly cost will be from €4.90/vehicle for standard integration and from €8.90/vehicle with the addition of TomTom’s Remaining Driving Time functionality.
