Tower Transit picks up 20 more StreetLites16 June 2017

Tower Transit is rolling out 20 new Wrightbus StreetLite vehicles, after reporting “impressive” fuel savings from its first 11 StreetLites, which went into service in 2015.

The 10.8m single-deckers have twin doors and are built to full TfL (Transport for London) specifications.

Each bus is equipped with a Daimler OM934 Euro 6 engine with Voith D824.6 gearbox including integrated retarder. Electronic power-assisted steering, plus stop-start engine technology is also included.

Other features include Smartblinds, a full 13-camera CCTV system, powered ramp to the mid-door and a reversing camera.

“We’ve been very pleased with the levels of fuel efficiency and overall environmental performance of our existing fleet of StreetLites, which has prompted this new order,” says Satnam Cheema, group engineering director for Tower Transit (pictured, left, with Wrightbus head of sales Steve Jackson).

“They also offer our passengers a safe, comfortable ride, which is consistent with the quality of Wrightbus vehicles we’ve had over the years.”
